To Lower Blood Cholesterol

 

The monounsaturated fatty acids help lower LDL (i.e. bad) cholesterol levesl. At least 15% of your daily calories should come from monounsaturated fatty acids. 

TIP: Use olive oil in place of butter or vegetable oil when cooking

For Earaches 

 

Soak a cotton pad in olive oil then add 5 drops of lavender oil. Place it loosely in your outer ear until he pain subsides.

For Digestion
 

Take 1 tbsp. of olive oil on an empty stomach to stimulate digestion and relieve upset stomach, flatulence and heartburn.

For Skin
 

Apply daly to dry skin or stretch marks as a moisterizer. It can also be used as a home remedy for other skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

For Nails
 

Olive oil can help build strong fingernails and soften cuticles. Before bed, soak your nails in a  mixture of warm olive oil and lemon juice. Put on soft cloth gloves, and let the oil penetrate overnight. You nails will gradually become more resistant to chipping.

For Heart Disease
 

Olive oil lowers the levels of blood cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and triglycerides; which plays a protective role in preventing the formation of fatty patches, thus stimulating the elimination of the low-density lipoproteins.

For Cancer and Inflammation

 

The phytonutrient in olive oil, oleocanthal, mimics the effect of ibuprofen in reducing inflammation, which can decrease the risk of breast cancer and its recurrence. Squalene and lignans are among the other olive oil components being studied for their possible effects on cancer.
